Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. introduced its first forth generation smartphone for Sprint Nextel Corp’s network.
Sprint’s renewed partnership with Motorola will result in more than 10 smartphones and tablets for sale in 2011, including Motorola’s first WiMax phone for Sprint, the Photon 4G. The Photon will also run on Sprint’s 3G network and the 4G network provided by Clearwire Corp. The Photon will work overseas for your worldly travels.
The Photon Will be available this summer and will have a 4.3-in. touch screen and will run the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) mobile operating system. Sprint described the smartphone at fulfilling both business and personal needs with a powerful 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Motorola is looking for a big hit as they are at looking at losing T-Mobile. Motorola’s chief Sanjay Jha has continually downplayed the potential loss of T-Mobile as a customer, saying there were only a few phones coming to the carrier, but he acknowledged the need to grow the customer base.
